Abstract
633,648. Rotary retorts. JOHANSSON, E. A. May 12, 1947, No. 12801. [Class 55 (i)] [Also in Group XIII] Apparatus in which material is heated for dry distillation by contact with loose bodies of appropriate temperature comprises a rotary drum, into which the loose bodies and material are fed, having one or more screens projecting internally, the openings being such as to pass the material through them while preventing the passage of the loose bodies which are carried upwardly by the screens, during the rotation of the drum, to a position where they roll off the screens into the funnel of an outlet conduit passing through a fixed part of the end wall. Fig. 6 shows a form of the apparatus which is described in Group XIII.
