Abstract

635,530. Seats ; cushions. EVERTAUT, Ltd., and HICKIN, N. April 28, 1948, No. 11600. [Classes 52 (ii) and 52 (iv)] In seats of the kind in which the legs are caused, in folding, to approach one another the legs being interconnected by pairs of pivoted and sliding intersecting links and horizontal seat supporting members hinged to the front legs and connected by seat links to the rear legs, the seat supporting members have no direct sliding engagement with the rear legs but are formed with channel or clip parts adapted to embrace closely the seat links when the seat is extended. As shown, the legs 1, 3 collapse together in a parallel manner being interconnected by pivoted pairs of links 13, 14, 22, 23, 28, 29 which are pivoted to the legs at the top and connected at the bottom to slides 20, 21 on the legs. The seat side members 8 are pivoted to the front legs 3 at 9 and are linked to the back legs 1 by links 10 the rear ends of which are gripped or embraced, in the extended position of the seat, by channels on the side members 8, the channels being formed by the angle section of the member 8 and an auxiliary angle section 38 welded thereto. The flexible seat fabric 4 is connected to the seat members 8 by means of flat metal strips 5 around which the fabric is rolled the strips 5 then being riveted to the members 8.
