Abstract
650,815. Separating dust from gases. AMERICAN AIR FILTER CO., Inc. July 23, 1947, No. 19735. Convention date, Aug. 12,1946. [Class 8(ii)] [Also in Group II] A separator for cleaning dust laden gases comprises a louvre having rotation relative to the main air flow, means for constraining the inflowing air so that dust clouds retained on the upstream surface of the louvre are moved to one end of the louvre, a dust collecting ring arranged around this end, and blades mounted on the louvre and projecting into the ring to induce passage of the dust clouds into the ring. In the Figure, the louvre L<SP>1</SP> is rotated in a scroll shaped casing 26 having a discharge opening 27 connected to suction means. Blades 15a mounted on the louvre project into the scroll shaped dust collecting ring 12b which has an outlet 28. The dust laden air enters the louvre at the left-hand end, clean gas .and dust being respectively discharged from the outlets 27, 28.
