653,276. Forging-machines. SAXER, A. Dec. 30, 1947, No. 34603. Convention date, Dec. 11, 1946. [Class 83 (iv)] In a machine for forming rod-like workpieces, particularly shafts or tools having grooves or flutes, heads carrying dies 8 are distributed around the work and are reciprocated by eccentrics 3. The heads are pivotally mounted at 7 on the eccentric rods 2 in hollow rectangular slide-blocks 6 guided between fixed brackets 5. The oscillatory motion of the dies imparts additional squeezing action to the work.
