Abstract

655,772. Indicating-apparatus. ELLIOTT BROS. (LONDON), Ltd. June 21, 1948, No. 16610. [Class 106 (iv)] A pivoted pointer 3 for an indicating or recording instrument having two balancing arms 7, 8 with balance weights 10 adjustable thereon projecting symmetrically on the opposite side of the pivotal axis, has a third balancing arm 9 beyond the pivotal axis at right angles to the pointer axis with adjustable balance weights 10 thereon. The weights 10 comprise wire helices of tinned copper or other wire and 80 per cent to 90 per cent of the balance weight is disposed on the arm 9. A thermoplastic coating to the weights is provided for securing them in position, after adjustment, by heating. The pointer comprises a suspension block 1 secured to the moving system of an instrument with a wire 2 soldered thereto and bent in the form of the triangle 7, 8, 9 on one side and flattened on the other at 3, beyond which it fits into a hollow extension which carries a stylus.
