Abstract
659,799. Pulse frequency dividing circuits. ELECTRIC & MUSICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. Jan. 15, 1946, No; 1314. [Class 40 (vi)] In a circuit of the type in which a stepped waveform is generated under the control of input pulses to operate a triggered device, the input pulses are also applied to the triggered device to improve the timing of the output pulse. Each positive pulse applied to normally non-conducting valve V1 causes the anode potential to fall, capacitor C1 discharging over diode V2 so that upon the pulse ceasing the anode of diode V3 is carried positive, thus charging capacitor C2 from capacitor C1. When valve V1 conducts the input pulses appear across cathode resistor R3 and due to coupling resistor R2 are superimposed on the stepped waveform developed across capacitor C2, Fig. 2 (not shown), and applied to the grid of blocking oscillator V<SP>1</SP>1. Valve V<SP>1</SP>1 is thus triggered by the leading edge of an input pulse after a sufficient number of steps have been developed across capacitor C2. A similar circuit is used in the next dividing stage. Alternatively, the input pulses may be fed directly to the second stage. Specification 471,731 is referred to.
