668,282. Vehicle jacks. FERGUSON, Ltd., H. Aug. 3, 1949 [Aug. 13, 1948], No. 21485/48. Class 79 (iii). In a jack for a tractor having a pair of swingable power operated links, the jack comprising a stand engaged under the tractor and with the ground in an inclined position and adapted to be connected to the links so that operation of the links raises the tractor by moving the stand to a less inclined position, means are provided for detachably connecting the stand with the links so that the stand becomes rigid with the links for movement with the links around the pivotal connections of the links with the tractor. As shown, the pair of laterally spaced links 1 are universally connected to the tractor on balls 2 and carry balls 3 at the other end which are apertured to receive pins for attaching agricultural implements to the tractor. The links 1 are actuated by a hydraulic power unit on the tractor, which is controlled by a hand lever 6 and is connected by cranks 4 and links 5 to the links 1 for vertical pivotal movement thereof. The stand is formed of tubes 8, 9, 10 welded together and connected by reinforcing struts 11. The stand is connected to the links 1 by a U-frame consisting of side arms 12 welded to sleeves 12a rotatably mounted on the base tube 9, the arms 12 being welded to a cross tube 13, the ends of which are secured within the balls 3 by pins 14. The stand and U-frame are rigidly interconnected by detachable struts 15. The top of each tube 8, 10 carries a semi-circular member 20 for detachable engagement with the front end of the respective link 1, the members 20 being held laterally spaced by the tractor differential casing. In combination with the stand is a front jack. The movement of the links causes forward movement of the tractor and this movement of the tractor is converted by the front jack to a raising of the front end of the tractor. The front jack consists of an inverted U-shaped tubular frame 22 in the lower ends of which the shanks of pointed studs 24 are welded. The studs have shoulders holding in position a tie plate 25 which limits the ground penetration of the studs 24. The top cross bar 22a of the frame is engaged in an angle between the crank case and a securing flange under the front of the tractor.
