Relates to a press of the kind comprising a drum a carrying press members b which are hingedly mounted around the periphery of the drum and which divide the sugar string f into pieces, the drum carrying also moulding members c which reciprocate in a direction parallel to the axis of the drum. According to the invention the sugar string is fed to the drum in a direction parallel to the drum axis directly over the path along which the finished pieces are delivered, and at the delivery end a conveyer belt h carrie, away the moulded sweets in a tangential direction.
