Abstract
Synthetic linear polyester filaments, yarns and fabrics derived from glycols and terephthalic acid are treated with a solution of zinc chloride, preferably saturated and at a temperature of 110 DEG to 120 DEG C., in order to improve the affinity for dispersed acetate dyestuffs. A dulling effect is observed in the treated materials.ALSO:The affinity of synthetic linear polyester filaments, yarns and fabrics derived from glycols and terephthalic acid for acetate dyestuffs of the dispersed type is improved by treating the filaments, yarns or fabrics with an aqueous solution of zinc chloride. The solution is preferably saturated and used at a temperature of 110 DEG to 120 DEG C. In examples, strips of polyethylene terephthalate fabric are treated in a saturated solution of zinc chloride at 115 DEG C. for 5, 10 and 30 seconds, respectively, rinsed in hydrochloric acid, washed and dyed with Dispersol Fast Orange G300, a mixture of Dispersol Yellow G300 and Duranol Brilliant Blue 300, Dispersol Fast Red R300 or Dispersol Fast Scarlet B300. The depth of dyeing is proportional to the time of treatment. A dulling effect is observed in the treated fabric.
