Abstract
704,550. Vehicle fittings : tipping apparatus. DEAVIS, C. E., and TAYLOR WOODROW CONSTRUCTION, Ltd. July 25, 1952 [April 27, 1951], No. 9970/51. Class 78 (4) Transporting and storing means comprises a tipping vehicle for the load container and a supporting frame therefor having a part for supporting the container at one end and a strut engaging the container at the other end whereby at the desired angle of tilt of the vehicle platform and of the container the container is left supported by the frame. The container 5, Fig. 2, is supported in a cradle 6, eyes 9 on the cradle being bolted to eyes 10 on the vehicle. The cradle supports a cross bar 15 and has rollers 7 contacting the vehicle platform which is tipped by a hydraulic cylinder 4. The container is unloaded on to a support comprising horizontal members 16 and uprights 17 supporting U shaped members 19 on telescopic members 20. The vehicle is backed along the members 16, the height of the U shaped members is adjusted to the height of the cross bar 15 and the bolts withdrawn from the eyes 9, 10. The vehicle platform is tilted to the required angle and the struts 23, pivoted to the container, are secured to members 24 : the vehicle can then be driven away leaving the container on the support. The struts may be adjustable. The container has an inlet and outlet 12, and an air vent.
