Abstract

704,696. Spectacle frames. UNITED KINGDOM OPTICAL CO.. Ltd., and BOYTON, C. Oct. 16, 1952 [Sept. 3, 1951], No. 20783/51. Class 97(1) A spectacle frame comprises a metal mount having rims formed by a bridge to carry the lenses and one or more portions formed of plastic or other material to which the temple pieces are attached and which is or are detachably connected to the mount. The temple-carrying portions may accordingly be readily changed to change the colour or appearance of the frame. In the form shown in Fig. 3 the lens rims 1 are formed by a bridge 2 to which is pivoted a latch 20, each rim bearing at its other side a hook 22. The temples E are hinged to two separate portions (one only shown) each having a channel- 12 to receive-the upper edge of the lens rim the hook 22 of which engages a pin 17 on the portion and the latch 20 being pivoted so that its ends 19 engages a slot 18 in the portion to hold in place on the rim. In the modification shown in Fig. 4 each temple-carrying portion D<SP>1</SP> is held on the lens-carrying frame by engagement of a pin 26<SP>1</SP> thereon with a hook 27 fixed to the frame 1 and by engagement of a pin 26 on the portion D<SP>1</SP> with an arcuate slot 25 in the bridge 2. In a further modification the templecarrying portions are joined by a bridge having a slot receiving the bridge of the lens-carrying frame.
