Abstract

715,531. Hose couplings. WESTINGHOUSE BRAKE & SIGNAL CO., Ltd., and MERRILEES, J. D. Nov. 27, 1952 [Jan. 11, 1952], No. 895/52. Class 99 (1). In a hose coupling of the Westinghouse type in which a coupler 1 is provided with a coupling- actuated, spring-loaded valve 16, an abutment on the valve stem 6 carries a resilient sealing ring 3 which is engaged by a gasket 20 in the mating coupler 21. The ring 3 also engages a gasket 2 held between the valve seat bracket 10 and the body of the coupler 1. The valve has a guide stem 14 slidable in a bore of the closure plug 13. In a modification the valve has a tubular stem with a sealing ring bonded to its end face.
