Abstract

726,810. Pneumatic tyres. PIRELLI SOC. PER AZIONI. Oct. 20, 1952 [May 3, 1952], No. 26320/52. Class 144 (2). A pneumatic tyre cover has a carcass built up of at least two layers 1 of fabric comprising rubberized metal cords arranged in transverse radial planes, reinforced in the tread region 2 by at least two layers 3 of fabric comprising rubberized metal cords arranged parallel to each other circumferentially of the tyre, the metal cords of the layers 1, 3 comprising twisted or braided wires of not less than 0.2 mm. diameter. It is stated that with such an arrangement the metal cords of the layers 1, 3 are subjected only to bending stresses when the tyre is in use. The reinforcing layers 3 may be alternated with additional metal or textile cord fabric layers of the same width the cords of which lie at right angles to those in the layer 3. The tyre beads may be formed with one or more additional bead wires for increased stability of the beads, and the tyre in the asmoulded condition may have a cross-section of greater width than height.
