Abstract
728,397. Preventing lateral canting. DAIMLER-BENZ AKT.-GES. April 10, 1952 [April 11, 1951], No. 9258/52. Class 108 (2). A vehicle comprises in combination road wheels mounted on rigid front and rear axles sprung in relation to the vehicle body by leaf springs at each end of each axle and separate torsion rods for each axle adapted for resisting unequal or opposite up and down movements of the wheels at respective ends of the axle. In the arrangement shown, each end of a torsion bar 25 is secured to a longitudinal chassis member 11 by means of two rubber bushes 26, 27 which are compressed endwise against the bar by means of metal cups 28 and 29. The torsion bar is connected to respective ends of a rigid axle or to a leaf spring assembly, through lever arms 32, the latter having rods 33 having rubber buffers 34, 35 interposed at its points of connection.
