Abstract
An oxychloride stone-like composition comprising, in per cent by weight, zinc oxide 38, magnesium oxide 48, sodium silicate 10, sodium borate 2, and soapstone 2, kneaded with a solution comprising zinc chloride (45 DEG B<\>ae), magnesium chloride (30 DEG B<\>ae), ammonium chloride (10 DEG B<\>ae) and sodium chloride (5 DEG B<\>ae) (see Group V) before setting, can be sprayed into a foundation, e.g. of sand and high alumina cement or sand and calcined heavy magnesium carbonate. After hardening, the product is dipped into a bath of, e.g. a 2 per cent. solution of magnesium and zinc fluosilicates.ALSO:A composition for the cold manufacture of ceramics consists of, in per cent by weight, zinc oxide 38; magnesia 48; sodium silicate 10; sodium borate 2; soapstone 2, kneaded with a solution of the chlorides of zinc (45 DEG B<\>ae); magnesium (30 DEG B<\>ae); ammonium (10 DEG B<\>ae); and sodium (5 DEG B<\>ae). The set products are hardened and made water impervious by immersion in a solution of zinc and magnesium fluosilicates. Coloured products are obtained by the inclusion of dyes.
