Abstract
729,936. Reciprocating pumps. BRISTOL AEROPLANE CO., Ltd. Aug. 19, 1953 [Aug. 20, 1952], No. 20947/52. Class 102 (1). A pump comprises a rotor 14, revolving within a liner 11 in a housing 12, having two bores 16, 17, within which are arranged a pump piston 22 connected to a motor piston 18. A source 33 of liquid under pressure is connected by passage 32 to ports 27, 29 and 40 in the liner 11 and a drain 35 is connected by the passage 34 to ports 28, 30 in the liner 11. A pump discharge passage 41 is provided. Ports 25, 26 are provided in the rotor on either side of the motor piston and ports 38, 39 communicate with the pump cylinder. As the rotor revolves, the ports 25, 26 register respectively with ports 27, 28 and 29, 30 to cause reciprocation of the motor piston and as the pump piston reciprocates motor piston and as the pump piston reciprocates the port 38 registers with the source of liquid through port 40 and during the discharge stroke, the port 39 registers with the discharge passage 41. A second pump piston may be connected to the other side of the piston 18. The rotor may be driven by a machine part which is lubricated by the pump. The ports may be adapted so that the pump pistons make several strokes to deliver to separate outlets during one rotation of the rotor. An adjustable stop may be provided to limit the stroke of the pistons.
