Abstract
744,233. Endless conveyers. ROSE BROS. (GAINSBOROUGH), Ltd. Oct. 30, 1952 [Oct. 9, 1951; Oct. 18, 1951], Nos. 23447/51 and 24295/51. Class 78 (1). In feeding mechanism consisting of a chain conveyer having spaced pushing elements for feeding articles in succession along a platform between side guides, at least one of the guides moves in the direction of travel of the conveyer. In the embodiment shown, articles such as rolls 15 of adhesive tape are conveyed along a platform 13 leading to the folding station of a wrapping machine by pushers 18 pivotally attached to an endless chain 11 and extending upwardly through a slot 19 in the platform. The inner laps of a pair of endless roller chains 29 constitute guides for the rolls. These chains extend round sprockets 31 and are driven at the same rate as the chain 11 by a chain 41 engaging a sprocket 42 on the driving shaft 43 supporting the chain driving sprocket 12, and sprockets 38, 39, the sprocket 38 being connected by gearing with the adjacent sprocket 31. Each pusher 18 is formed with an arm 21 having a projection 22 engaging a guideway 23 in a guide member 20. Adjacent the folding station the guideway is shaped as shown at 24 so as to cause the pusher 18 to pivot backwards clear of the article 15 as it moves from the platform 13 into position on a reciprocating pusher 16 which delivers it to the folding station.
