Abstract

746,665. Electromedical appliances. SIEMENS-REINIGER-WERKE AKT.-GES. Aug. 26, 1952 [Aug. 27, 1951], No. 21461/52. Class 81(2). Electromedical apparatus comprises an impulse generator for generating sequences of triangular impulses and having two controlling elements which establish time constants so that the impulse time and interval time may be adjusted independently of one another, an adjustable impulse amplifier to amplify the impulses to such a degree that an impulse limiter following the amplifier converts the impulses into rectangular impulses. Triangular impulses are generated by a multivibrator 1 which is triggered by a gas triode. The pulse width of the impulses produced is regulated by adjusting resistances R11, R12 and a condenser C5. The interval between the impulses is regulated by adjusting a condenser C1 in the gas triode circuit and a resistance R1. These impulses are then passed to a potentiometer R15 of an amplifier 2, the potentiometer R15 serving to adjust the amplitude of the amplifier input so that rectangular pulses are produced after subsequent limiting of the output by a diode limiting device 3. The resultant rectangular wave form is caused to pulsate if required by the addition of triangular pulses from a circuit 5, the pulsating rectangular impulses being passed through a three-stage negative feedback amplifier 4 to the patient. The circuit 5 is in the form of a surge impulse generator or a blocking oscillator controlled by a switch in one position of which the surge impulse generator is disconnected from the limiter 3 and the multivibrator 1 is disconnected from the limiter 3 so that the current in the limiter 3 and the amplifier 4 can be measured. In second position of the switch rectangular impulses alone are applied to the patient and in a third position of the switch rectangular impulses together with surge impulses from the surge impulse generator 5 are applied to the patient.
