Abstract

746,909. Valve closure members. WALDENMAIER, H, W., [trading as ERHARD, J., [Firm of]]. Jan. 6, 1954 [Jan. 13, 1953], No. 322/54. Addition to 720,835. Class 135. A butterfly valve-disc 1 carries a peripheral sealing-ring 2 mounted by screws 5 and resilient elements 6, e.g. rubber buffers, whereby it may be urged by pressure of the controlled fluid, in the valve-closed position, into engagement with a fixed sealing ring 3<SP>1</SP> in the valve housing. For controlling fluid flow in either direction the disc may be rotatable through 180 degrees and the housing provided with a second sealing ring 3<SP>11</SP>. A rubber &c. sealing ring 7 prevents leakage between the disc and the ring 2. The spindle 4 is offset in relation to the sealing surface of the ring 2 so that that surface is uninterrupted. The sealing surface of the ring 2 and/or that of the rings 31, 3<SP>11</SP> may be of rubber.
