Abstract

748,150. Two-part couplings. SIMMONDS & STOKES (NIPHAN), Ltd. June 21, 1954 [July 8, 1953], No. 18968/53. Class 38 (1). The insulating contact-carrying blocks 2, 2A of a waterproof plug and socket coupling are each held in their respective casings 1, 1A by a dowel pin 4 screwed into the block engaging a groove 5 in the casing, the block and casing being assembled by inserting the former so that the pin 4 passes through a slot 6 in the lip 12 and then rotating the block. A tongue 9 on a spring 7 engages slot 6 to prevent further rotation of block 2, the spring 7 having a washer-like part encircling the earthing pin 8 and serving to press it against the metal casing 1. A joint washer 11 and spring washer 19 are provided in the plug part. The spring which prevents rotation of the block 2 may alternatively be secured to one of the pins by a screw (Fig. 5, not shown).
