Abstract

A cement composition comprises Portland cement (1 volume); water ( 1/4 to 1 volume); sodium bicarbonate or silicate ( 1/2 to 1 ounce weight per pound weight of Portland cement) dissolved in the water; liquid paraffin or glycerine ( 1/40 to 3/40 volume); and cow's milk ( 1/5 to 4/5 volume). When prepared as a semi liquid paste the composition may be applied as a paint for preserving wood and metals, and may contain 1/5 to 3/5 volume of linseed oil or oil of turpentine. Powdered burnt fireclay may also be added in the proportions of 1/4 to 3/4 ounce per pound weight of cement. The paint composition may also contain powdered aluminium or other nonferrous metal, or powdered chalk.ALSO:A cement composition comprises Portland cement (1 volume); water ( 1/4 to 1 volume); sodium bicarbonate or silicate ( 1/2 to 1 ounce weight per pound weight of Portland cement) dissolved in the water; liquid paraffin or glycerine ( 1/40 to 3/40 volume); and cow's milk ( 1/5 to 4/5 volume). For use as a glazier's putty the composition may comprise Portland cement (1 volume); water ( 1/2 volume); sodium bicarbonate ( 1/2 ounce per pound weight of Portland cement); liquid paraffin ( 1/20 volume); and cow's milk ( 2/5 volume). The sodium bicarbonate is dissolved in the water before mixing the ingredients. A cement paste for building purposes, e.g. for stopping holes in plaster walls has the same proportions as the putty composition but in addition contains one to four volumes of sand. When prepared as a semi-liquid paste the composition may be applied as a paint for preserving wood and metals, and may contain 1/5 to 3/5 volume of linseed oil or oil of turpentine. The composition may also contain powdered aluminium or other non-ferrous metal, or powdered chalk in a proportion of 1/5 to 3/5 volume.
