760,935. Rectifying. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd. (Materiel Telephonique Soc. Anon.). Sept. 29, 1953, No. 26679/53. Class 38 (2). A rectifying system for supplying D.C. terminals 4, 5 from a three-phase supply 1, 2, 3, comprises two transformers T<SP>1</SP>, T<SP>2</SP> having three limbed cores with air gaps e, on which are wound primary windings P<SP>1</SP> having capacitors C in parallel and P<SP>2</SP>, and secondary windings S<SP>1</SP>, S<SP>2</SP>. Corresponding primary windings P<SP>1</SP>, P<SP>2</SP> are connected in series and the three pairs connected in delta to the three-phase supply. The two sets of three secondary windings are each connected in star and supply respectively rectifiers arrangements R<SP>1</SP>, R<SP>2</SP>, which have their outputs connected in series to the output terminals through filter F. With transformer cores having suitable magnetic characteristics, and operating above the knees of the magnetization curves, and between the series and parallel resonant points of the primary windings, parallel resonance being reached for normal voltage and no load, and series resonance being reached for low supply voltage and full load, a flat or slightly rising output voltage characteristic may be obtained.
