Abstract

766,978. Filters for liquids. BINZER, K. H., [trading as BINZER PAPIERFABRIK, J. C.]. March 22, 1955 [March 30, 1954], No. 8303/55. Class 46. In a filter unit comprising an open wire or other highly permeable casing 7 in or around which a paper &c. filter 16 is detachably arranged to bear against the surface of the casing in the direction of flow, the casing 7 rests on a solid base member 13 having an upwardly directed rim 14 embracing the filter element 16, which is of sleeve-like form; the casing merges at its open upper end into a sleeve 8 having an outwardly directed rim 9 serving for sealing the filter in a filtering appliance 2, the filter element being secured at its upper end in the casing by a conical force-fit ring 17. When the direction of flow is inwards, tightenable rings replace the conical ring 17. The lower end of the casing is secured to the bottom member from outside by soldering &c. and is protected by a second, outer, upstanding rim 21. The paper &c. filter element may be hardened by synthetic resin materials and is formed from a flat blank bent to form a sleeve the margins of which overlap when it is applied to the casing and may be secured together by milling. The force-fit ring 8 has a diametrical bar 26 constituting a handle. A spring 10 presses the rim 9 of the sleeve against an inwardly directed flange 12 on the housing of the filter appliance.
