[Also in Group XXVIII] A joint for pipelines or between parts of vessels comprises a ring 1 or strip of a material, such as metal, glass or plastic, which is normally non- resilient but has a degree of flexibility imparted to it in the direction of its thickness by a deep groove or slot 2 in its inside or outside periphery or edge. Ribs 3 or other continuous serrations or corrugations are provided to engage in recesses in the ends of the pipes 5.
