773,609. Supplying electric fences; charging and discharging condensers. SIEMENS BROS. & CO., Ltd. Nov. 18, 1955 [Aug. 27, 1954], No. 24953/54. Class 38 (4). An arrangement for supply of high-voltage pulses at a slow rate to an electric fence comprises a step-up transformer T, the secondary winding of which is connected to the fence and the primary winding of which is energized from a battery B over a resistor R<SP>2</SP> and contact m<SP>2</SP> of a relay M which is shunted by a large capacity electrolytic condenser C and which is also connected to the battery over a contact M<SP>1</SP> of the relay and a resistor R<SP>1</SP>. Upon closure of a main switch X a charging circuit for condenser C is completed and, simultaneously, flux builds up in the transformer core due to the passage of primary current. When the condenser has charged to a certain voltage, relay M responds and opens its contacts m<SP>1</SP>, m<SP>2</SP>, thereby interrupting both the charging circuit and the flow of primary current. The latter causes the generation of a high voltage pulse in the secondary winding of the transformer, and the former allows the condenser to discharge through relay M which subsequently releases to cause the cycle of operations to repeat. Resistor R<SP>2</SP> and condenser C<SP>1</SP> form a spark-reducing network for the contact m2.
