783,717. Electric hot-plates. BACKER ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., HOTPOINT ELECTRIC APPLIANCE CO., Ltd., and METROPOLITAN-VICKERS ELECTRICAL CO., Ltd. Feb. 9, 1956 [Feb. 9, 1955], No. 3897/55. Class 39(3) In an electric hot-plate of the kind having at least one convoluted sheathed wire heating element 5 supported within a frame 4 having an outer lip 6 engaging the sunken rim of an opening in a hob 1, the ends 8 of the element 5 are bent to extend into a terminal box 10 having an upper wall 11 notched at 12 for engagement with and securement to a boss 14 projecting down from the underside of the hob 1 adjacent the opening therein. The bent ends 8 of the element 5 project through an opening in the rectangular or circular frame 4 and pass through apertures in the substantially rectangular terminal box 10. The lower wall 15 of the box 4 is notched to receive a threaded post 13 screwed into the boss 14 and attached to the box 4 by nuts 18. The frame 4 has an internal spider 7 supporting the element 5 and is held located in the hob opening by one or more spring clips 22 entering notched apertures or recesses in the wall of the frame 4. The clips 22 are secured to the underside of the hob 1 by screws 22<SP>1</SP>. A drip-plate or reflector 23 of aluminium or enamelled steel is mounted on runners attached to the underside of the hob or the frame of a cooker. The reflector may be readily removed. A single reflector may serve two hot-plates.
