Abstract
795,078. Building block toys. ZANDER, W. Feb. 17, 1956 [Feb. 21, 1955; April 28, 1955; Jan. 12, 1956], No. 5022/56. Class 132(3) Hollow toy building blocks may be secured together by joint strips having studs for engagement in apertures formed in the blocks. In Fig. 2, a block has rectangular apertures 4, 5 in which studs 22 or 23 of a joint strip, Fig. 7, may engage, the studs on the underside of the strip engaging in apertures in another block. Five walls of a block are preferably moulded in one piece, the sixth wall being formed separately and then secured in position, e.g. by gluing. Lugs, Fig. 6 (not shown), may be formed on edges of the strips for supporting flooring, or longitudinal or lateral grooves formed in one or both sides of the strips may receive members 36-38 on which flooring may rest and be secured by pins which engage apertures 37<SP>1</SP>, Fig. 9. Fig. 11 shows a portion of a building having an internal wall 49, window openings 51 and a doorway 50. Synthetic plastic is specified for the blocks and strips, which may be of various lengths. The apertures in the blocks may be circular or elliptical, and the studs may be multi-sided.
