Abstract

795,255. Magnetic compasses. MONTRES ROLEX SOC. ANON. July 21, 1955 [June 4, 1955], No. 21110/55. Class 97(2) A compass case has a sighting line and a circular transparent cover bearing markings and friction mounted in the case concentric to the magnet so as to be manually movable. As shown, a case 1 is carried on a wrist strap 3 and formed with a groove 17, which forms a sighting line and a direction line 18. The pivoted member 8 carrying the magnet is enclosed in a hollow transparent box 4 with a circular rolling ball level indicator 16 formed in a cavity in the upper face. The member 8 is graduated both on the face and on the periphery where it may be observed through the edge of the box and read against a mark 13 on the case 1. A datum mark 14 is provided on the face of the box and another, not shown, diametrically opposite on the side. The marks and graduations are luminous.
