Abstract
803,188. Air heating stoves. MINCHIN, L. T. May 7, 1956 [March 8, 1955], No. 6787/55. Class 64(1) A space heater consists of two interconnected chambers 2, 7 between which air from the room is allowed to flow, the chamber 2 being provided with a burner 1 or other source of heat and the chamber 7 with two or more partitions 8, 9 extending for between 75 per cent and 97 per cent of the length of the chamber. The partitions 8, 9 form a pair of sections 5, 6 in the chamber 7, each section being connected by a rectangular-section duct 3 to the chamber 2 while the space between the sections is connected to a flue pipe 10. Air enters by apertures 14, 16 and is deflected forward by a plate 17 at the top of the apparatus to pass through the front casing 26 which is of wire gauze to permit radiated heat to leave the front surface of the chamber 2. A sheet of metal 11 is bonded to the ducts 3 and by the use of further metal sheets to the chambers 2, 7 to augment the heatexchange surface. A deflector plate 23 under the burners and an aperture 25 at the bottom of the chamber 7 prevent down draughts from affecting combustion and the flow of flue gases. The burner 1, the plate 23 and the adjacent portion of the case can be detached. According to the Provisional Specification, the heat source may be an electric element and the back of the chamber 7 may be provided with fins.
