Abstract

813,348. Separating liquid particles from gases. MAKAROFF, V. S., and JACKSON, A. E. Aug. 8, 1956 [Aug. 16, 1955; July 23, 1956], No. 24312/56. Class 123(3) Finely-divided liquid particles forming a mist in a gas are separated by passing the gas through a body 2 of porous material supported on a grid 3 in a chamber 7, the material being adsorptive or absorptive with respect to the liquid constituting the droplets. When separating oil mist, suitable materials are flaked asbestos or diatomaceous earth. The apparatus is operated continuously, the mist particles coalescing and collecting in the mass 2 and eventually dripping therefrom into the bottom of the chamber whence they are drained through a pipe 4. Dry gas discharges through a pipe 6. Specification 30,004/10 [Class 123] is referred to.
