817,538. Cycle driving-mechanism. GEORGE, J. I. July 15, 1957 [March 9, 1957], No. 7845/57. Class 136(2) A cycle operated by pedal levers D, D<SP>1</SP> has a system of hydraulic transmission of tractive effort to the road wheels. The pedal levers D, D<SP>1</SP> actuate a pump unit A, A<SP>1</SP> (Fig. 4) mounted on plates H, H<SP>1</SP> slidable along a bracket M which is fixed to the cycle frame. The pump A may be moved from a high gear position to a low gear position and vice versa by sliding the plates H, H' along the bracket M. The pump unit A is connected with the road wheel motors J, J<SP>1</SP> by hydraulic feed and return pipes which may be flexible or may be rigid and provided with swivel joints.
