Abstract

818,255. Steering vehicles; hydraulic driving gear. PELLIZZETTI, I. June 25, 1957 [July 20. 1956], No. 20004/57. Classes 79(2) and 79(5) In motor vehicles having more than one axle 1, Fig. 3, with steerable wheels 3 driven by individual hydraulic motors 4 the steering of each axle is controlled independently and'the wheels may be swivelled through 90 degrees for moving the vehicle transversely. Steering arms 16 on each wheel are coupled through ball jointed rods 14, 10 to a beam 8 pivoted to the axle 1 and rotated for steering by hydraulic rams 5 controlled from a valve 6. Cranks 12 interconnecting the rods 10, 14 and pivoted to the axles 1 on brackets 13 amplify the angle moved by the wheels 3. For normal steering the orientation of the rear wheels is fixed and the front wheels are steered by the valve 6.
