Abstract

837,627. Filters. STEVENS, R. J. March 12, 1957 [March 12, 1956], No. 8129/57. Class 46. [Also in Group XXVIII] An edge filter comprises a stack of centrally apertured circular metal discs 1, Fig. 1, clamped by a bolt 5 and nut 6 between plates 2, 3 having concentric rings of outlet bores 18, 19, 20 and inlet bores 21, 22, 23 respectively the outlet bores being arcuately offset from the inlet bores, and each plate 1 has concentric rings of slots, e.g. radial slots 8, 9, 10, Fig. 2, between which and on one side of the plate only are provided striated areas 15 effected by electrolytic etching ; the slots of all the plates 1 being in register and being so spaced that alternate lanes B, C, Fig. 4, so formed open into the bores 21, 22, 23 and bores 18, 19, 20 respectively and are connected by the striated portions 15 by which filtration is effected. In a modification the slots in the plates 1 extend arcuately in concentric rings and the striations are located between the slots. Specification 721,592 is referred to.
