Abstract

838,157. Bayonet-joint fastenings. TOMKINSON Ltd.. F. W. Oct. 29, 1958 [Dec. 5, 1957], No. 37860/57. Class 44 In a bayonet-joint fastening for detachably connecting two co-axial cylindrical members 10, 11, the member 10 has L- shaped slots 14 which form tongues 15 each of which has a bayonet groove 13 formed .therein, and the member 11 inwardlyprojecting indentations 16 engageable with the grooves. The radial depth of each groove 13 is progressively reduced from the entrance end to the closed end to a depth less than the radial depth of the indentations 16 so that when the members are fully engaged the tongues, being resilient, are pressed inwardly and a frictional grip is obtained between the members 10, 11. The member 10 may have a stepped portion 12 to receive the member 11, and part of each groove 13 is formed as a helix to effect axial movement between the members 10, 11.
