Abstract

845,721. Pipe joints. WADE COUPLINGS Ltd. July 30, 1957 [April 17, 1957], No. 12517/57. Class 99(1). A tube fitting comprises a spigot 4 with an integral boss 5 having a force fit in a socket 1 and over which a synthetic plastic pipe end 7 is engaged and supported against collapse. The boss 5 abuts a shoulder 8 in the socket from which the spigot 4 projects and a gland 9 fitted on the tube is engaged between a tapered part 10 on the socket and a gland nut 11 screwed thereon. In a modification, Fig. 3 (not shown), the fitting is formed as a double ended union.
