Abstract

848,608. Moulding polytetrafluoroethylene laminates. DU PONT DE NEMOURS & CO., E. I. Sept. 5, 1958 [Sept. 25, 1957], No. 28655/58. Class 87(2). [Also in Group VIII] A shaped laminate is made by laying plies 14, of polytetrafluoroethylene or copolymers thereof with vinylidene fluoride, virylfluoride orhexafluoropropene, or of glass fabric asbestos or metal impregnated and /or coated with the polymer or a copolymer over a former 15 and covering them with an impervious sheet 10 held down and edge-sealed by a bolted frame 17, 18, the envelope so formed being evacuated through vents 13a in the former. The evacuation process may include replacement of air by hydrogen and re-evacuation. The products may be used for electrical insulation or for making printed circuits. Specification 680,257 and U.S.A. Specification 2,539,329 are referred to.
