A carton having extensions 44<SP>1</SP> and flaps 5, 51, 6, 61 on the base 1 and opposite side walls 2, 3 overlapping to form end walls, has tongues 7, 71 on flaps 5, 5i entering slots 8, 8<SP>1</SP> in extensions 4, 4<SP>1</SP> to maintain the carton erect. The remaining flaps 6, 6<SP>1</SP> are enclosed between the other extensions and flaps and the upper part of the extensions 4, 4<SP>1</SP> folded over with the tongues 7, 7<SP>1</SP> to lie parallel to the base. Portions 9, 10 form covers.
