854,151. Automatic temperature control systems. REGULATOR A.G. June 3, 1958 [June 26, 1957], No. 17628/58. Class 38 (4). In a central heating system, the temperature of the hot-water supply from a plurality of boilers is maintained constant with variation in heat load by regulating a first boiler and with increase of load connecting into the system additional boilers, each operating at maximum delivery. In an embodiment, an automatic regulation control 15 responsive to signals from a regulating thermostat 8, in a hot-water return pipe 6, controls the light-up or shut-down of boilers 1-3 through programme switching apparatus 61-63. A thermostat 7 in a hotwater feed pipe 5 controls a fuel pump and air control arrangement 71 of boiler 1 so as to maintain constant the temperature in the feed-pipe. The thermostat 7 also affects the operation of the programme switching apparatus 61. At start-up, the programme switching apparatus associated with the particular boiler in response to a signal from the regulation control 15 starts up a flue fan 21-23 and opens a valve 81-83 supplying gas to a burner 11-13 if the gas pressure is sufficient to actuate a pressureswitch 91-93. The gas is ignited electrically and fuel oil is supplied to the burner through a valve 51-53. During operation, the programme switching apparatus controls the fuel valve 51-53 and flue damper 31-33 in response to signals from thermostats 111-113, 121-123 and flame photo-cell 101-103. The operation of the flue damper is partially dependent on signals from a pressure switch 41-43 sensing furnace gas pressure. At shut-down, fuel valve 51-53 is closed and for boilers 2, 3 hot-water return valves 132, 133 are closed. Hot-water circulation is maintained by a pump 66. A minimum thermostat 9 rings an alarm in the regulation control 15 when the return-pipe temperature falls below a predetermined value.
