Abstract

859,780. Drying skins &c. HORN, McCULLAGH & CO. Ltd., and HORN, J. R. J. Oct. 20, 1958 [July 19, 1957], No. 22950/57. Class 34(2) Moisture is pressed from wet skins &c. by placing the skins between inflatable bolsters which are subsequently inflated. A press for treating batches of skins 20 comprises a base 7, Fig. 3, cross-members 6, side frames 5, 5 and rails 8, 8 upon which run wheels mounted on shafts 10, 10 adapted to carry the head of the press, constituted by members 11, 12, from " press charging " to " press operating " positions denoted in Fig. 1 by dash and full lines respectively. Located between the base 7 and the head is a series of superimposed plates 14 between each of which is a pneumatic bolster 15 connected by a flexible pipe 16 to a manifold 17 supplied with pressure fluid, e.g. air, from a pipe 18 through a valve 19.
