Abstract

865,468. Transformers. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. Feb. 25, 1959 [March 12, 1958], No. 7947/58. Class 38 (2). A leakage reactance transfer having an adjustable shunt member 5 made of rectangular laminations riveted together has a rectangular core made of silicon steel strips 1, 2, 3, 4 under lapped and over lapped at the corners as shown. The leakage reactance can be set by moving the secondary coils 8, 9 and the member 5 relatively to the primary winding. The air gap between the member 5 and the limbs 1 and 2 can be varied by varying the amount of overlapping between the limbs and the yokes. The primary coils 6, 7 can form separate primary windings or be connected in series or parallel and the secondary coils can be similarly connected. Alternatively, the coils can be arranged in auto-transformer connection. Specification 865,469 is referred to.
