Abstract
867,007. Gripping-devices. INDUSTRIE GLEITBAUGESELLSCHAFT AHL & CO. Dec. 31, 1959 [April 25, 1959], No. 44417/59. Class 78 (4). A lifting device for sliding formwork for concrete structures has two clamps, each comprising a jaw member 14, Figs. 1, 2, pivoted at 13, 18, and a wedge-piece 15, which grip a guide-bar 5 and are movable towards and away from each other. The upper wedge-piece is slidable in its jaw member, the amount of movement being limited by a spring 19, the pressure of which is adjusted by a screw 20. In operation an arm 10, connected to discs 9, is swung upwards about an eccentric pivot 8. Cheeks 12, attached to discs 9, are thus raised and carry upwards pivots 13 and the lower clamp 14, 15, allowing a lower spring 17 to expand. During this movement the frame 1, which supports the formwork, remains clamped to the bar 5 by the upper clamp. When the arm 10 begins to descend the lower clamp grips the bar 5 and the whole frame 1 is raised about the pivot 8. The upper clamp slides up the bar 5 and grips the bar at the end of the upward movement. The springs 19 and screws 20 allow a small downward movement of the frame 1 to occur at the end of each climbing movement. The ratio of upward to downward movement is preferably 3: 1. Fig. 5 shows an upper jaw member in which a leaf-spring 24 is mounted between the wedge-piece and the jaw member.
