Abstract
872,280. Polydiolefin resins. ESSO RESEARCH & ENGINEERING CO. June 26, 1959 [July 1, 1958], No. 21988/59. Drawings to Specification. Class 2(6). A polymeric oil from a C 4 to C 6 conjugated diolefin is partially cured in the presence of a cross-linking agent and a free-radical or peroxidetype catalyst and the partially cured oil heated to complete the cure. The polymeric oil may comprise butadiene with or without styrene (preferred) or isoprene, dimethyl butadiene, piperylene and methyl pentadiene with or without styrene, methyl vinyl ketone, acrylonitrile paramethyl styrene and dimethyl styrene, and may be prepared in the usual manner with sodium, ethers, alcohol and a diluent hydrocarbon. The cross-linking agent may be styrene, vinyl toluene or diallyl phthalate and the catalyst dicumyl and/or t-butyl peroxide.
