Class 97(3) A maximum and minimum thermometer of the type in which a U-tube has its limbs horizontal in use and vertical when setting the indices, is pivoted at 6 to a mounting plate 2 secured to a wall or other support and stops 4, 5, are provided to hold the thermometer in its two extreme positions. As shown, the stops 4, 5, are pressed out tongues on the plate 2. Alternatively, a ball catch or spring finger is provided on either the scale-carrying plate 1a or the plate 2 to engage either of two depressions in the plate 2 or plate 1a respectively.
