Abstract

879,324. Filter-condition indicators. BENDIX CORPORATION. Sept. 23, 1959 [Oct. 15, 1958], No. 32410/59. Class 46. At temperatures below a certain value, a "fluid" 62 located between pistons 58 and 60 is solid and cannot flow through an apertured partition 64, so that excess pressure, due to low-temperature viscosity only, applied at 70, cannot raise piston 58 and, with it, a sleeve 52 to release balls 50 which look an indicator pin 44 in non-visible position. Above the predetermined temperature, excess pressure due to filter clogging is able raise piston 58, the fluid 62 now flowing through partition 64 and raising piston 60. The "fluid" 62 may be water (with optional corrosion inhibitor) or woods' metal or like metal.
