Abstract
887,204. Inductances. HANSEN, H. C. Feb. 27, 1958 [March 1, 1957], No. 6890/57. Class 38 (2). An inductance coil comprises an inner core 10, which may be laminated, embraced by a coil 14 and forming a closed magnetic circuit with an outer core structure 12, at least those parts of the outer core structure which are located adjacent the ends of the inner core being of sheet material the inner faces of which face towards the inner core ends and being provided with means, such as slots 16, 18, extending inwardly from an edge to cause eddy currents generated in that part of the outer core, by facewise entry of flux from the adjacent inner core end, to circulate in at least two separate circuits. The outer core 12 may be wound from strip, and the coil leads may be brought out through one of the slots. Coverplates 20 and 22 of magnetic material with an oxide coating may be taped or spot-welded to the outer core; one of these 22 may have extensions 24, 26 to carry a terminal block 28. The outer core structure may be made by the method of Specification 887,205. According to the Provisional Specification the structure may be a stray-field transformer.
