Abstract
900,259. Automatic voltage control systems. FELTEN & GUILLEAUME FERNMELDEANLAGEN G.m.b.H. May 2, 1960 [May 2, 1959], No. 15365/60. Class 38 (4). In an automatic voltage control and current limitation system for a transductor controlled rectifier arrangement employing a transistorized differential amplifier device, a Zener diode is used to produce a constant reference voltage and the emitter-collector path of a transistor controlled by a direct voltage derived from the load current is connected in parallel with the Zener diode. As shown, control windings 8, 9 of a transductor, not shown, are energized from the output voltage through the emitter-collector paths of transistors 1, 2 and a common resistor 4. The base electrode of transistor 1 is connected to a tapping of a voltage divider 5, 6 across the output voltage and the base electrode of transistor 2 is connected to a junction of a Zener diode 3 with a resistor 7. At the desired output voltage the voltages at bases of the transistors are equal and the control windings 8, 9 are equally energized. When the output voltage rises the transistor 1 is biased so that the current in the control winding 8 decreases. The reduced voltage across the resistor 7 causes a reduction in the current through the resistor 4 to alter the bias to the transistor 2 so that the current through the control winding 9 is also reduced, so tending to maintain the output voltage constant. In parallel with the Zener diode 3 is connected the emitter-collector path of a transistor 10 biased by the voltage drop across a resistor 11 carrying the output current. When the load current reaches a predetermined value the Zener diode current falls to zero and the bias to transistor 2 is determined by the collector voltage of the transistor 10 to limit the load current.
