Abstract
902,721. Walls and partitions. KEIR & CAMPBELL Ltd. June 24, 1959 [June 28, 1958], No. 20800/58. Class 20 (4). A building construction comprises the combination of a column 1, Fig. 5, at least two ribs externally located, longitudinally directed and peripherally interspaced on the column, a panel 8, a panel locating member 5, and means 6 connecting the latter to one of the ribs, said member 5 locating the panel with an end face thereof adjacent and spaced from the column and extending transversely to said one rib. Spaces between the column and the members 5 may be closed by U-shaped elements 7 sprung into position. In the embodiments of Figs. 2, 3 and 4 (not shown), columns are formed from flanged sections other than the top-hat sections of Figs. 5, 6 and 7 in order to provide flanges on two adjacent sides, on three sides and on four sides of the column. In Fig. 6 a panel locating member 5 is attached to an unflanged side of the column by a clip 19 which engages U-shaped members 17 received in spaces between the column and those members 5 which are attached to the column flanges. In Fig. 7 a strip 24 received in a longitudinal recess 23 on one or both of its walls provides a flange for attaching a further panel locating member 5.
