Abstract

922,130. Lamp caps and holders; cut-outs. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. May 11, 1961 [June 20, 1960], No. 21588/60. Class 38 (1). A centre contact type lamp cap incorporating a series cut-out comprises complementary discs 1, 3 between which the inturned rim 5 of the metal sleeve 2 of the cap is clamped by a contact eyelet 4 one of the discs being of insulating material and the other having a normally insulating coating located at that face to which contact with the rim of the sleeve is established, the insulating coating being such as to break down if the lamp filament breaks. The disc 3 may be either of copper, the normally insulating coating being of cuprous oxide, or it may be anodised aluminium. In the embodiment shown, the cap 2 is of the Edison screw type but it may be of the bayonet type.
