Abstract
931,005. Electromagnetic relays. C. P. CLARE & CO. Dec. 22, 1959 [Jan. 19, 1959], No. 43576/59. Class 38 (5). In a relay with a plurality of sealed magnetic contact units surrounded by a single coil and having polarizing magnets for each unit, the magnets of adjacent units are of opposite polarity so that the operating values of each unit are independent and can be set individually before assembly. A number of units 12 with change-over contacts wetted by mercury due to capillary action are inserted in the opening 26 of a coil 28. Each unit 12 has magnets 16 soldered to its contact ends 22 and its operating values are set before assembly by " stabilizing " the individual magnets 16 to give the required values for bi-stable or singleside-stable operation. Insulating barriers 30 are inserted between the magnets of adjacent units and the ends 20, 22 of the contacts are connected to pins 36 which pass through the base 34.
