Abstract
A composition, adapted to cure in air, contains a butyl rubber latex, an inert filling material and a vulcanising agent which is p-guinone dioxime plus lead oxide or plus toluene p-Sodium chlorsulphonamide, the rubber latex having a solids content of from 60 to 80%. A tackifier, e.g. a polyisoolefin such as polyisobutylene, or polybutadiene and styrene-butadiene copolymer may also be present while the inert filler may be asbestos fibres, clay, whiting, silica, carbon black and portland cement. Preferred proportions are, per 100 rubber, 40 to 100 filler, 1-25 p-quinone dioxime, 1-50 other vulcaniser and 0 to 40 tackifying compound.
